Lessons Guidelines
My goal is to help you become the best harp player you can be! The following guidelines will help you do just that. These are general guidelines, and there are always exceptions, which are on a case-by-case basis. These guidelines will hopefully encourage you, the student, to keep your scheduled lesson. It's very common for a lesson to be canceled for the excuse of, "I haven't practiced." That's okay! It's better to keep your lesson, which can be used as a practice session as well as a lesson, and which will keep you moving forward. Otherwise the inclination is to fall further and further behind, then one gets frustrated at their lack of progress and gives up.
REGULAR RATES
1 hour: $60
1/2 hour: $35
CANCELLATIONS
Just like any other profession, appointments, or lessons, are scheduled in advance. If the student needs to cancel a lesson, 24 hours notice must be given, otherwise the student is still responsible for the lesson fee. There are some exceptions such as emergencies and unplanned events (the car battery is dead, sudden illness, "my water just broke").
The other factor is that I hold your lesson time for you. With less than 24 hours notice, I most likely cannot fill that time with another student. If I need to cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours notice, the next lesson is half price.
RESCHEDULING
If the student needs to reschedule a lesson, 24 hours notice must be given. If a request to reschedule is made with less than 24 hours notice and the lesson cannot be rescheduled within the same week, the student is still responsible for the lesson fee for that week.
LATENESS
If the student is more than 5 minutes late to a lesson, the lesson will not extend past the regularly schedule time. (i.e., if the lesson is from and the student shows up at , the lesson will end at , not .) There are exceptions such as unusual traffic delays. In these cases, if possible, the lesson will be for the full time. (It is highly recommended to give a call and let me know you’re going to be late.)
I can travel to students (with an additional travel fee). If I am late to a lesson, the lesson will extend past the regularly scheduled time so the lesson is for the entirety of the originally scheduled lesson.
DISCOUNT RATES
A $5/lesson discount applies when the student pays for a month of lessons in advance, with a minimum of two lessons per month paid in advance.
- 1/2 hour lessons: $120/month for 4 lessons ($30/lesson)
- 1 hour lessons: $220/month for 4 lessons ($55/lesson)
CANCELLATIONS/RESCHEDULING
If the student needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson for the week, 24 hours notice must be given. If more than 24 hours notice is given and that paid lesson cannot be rescheduled within the same week, an extension will be given and that lesson will be added to the end of the paid block of lessons. NOTE: no more than one extension will be given each quarter. If an extension has already been given within that quarter and the paid lesson cannot be rescheduled within the same week, that lesson is forfeit.
If 24 hours notice is not given and the lesson cannot be rescheduled within the same week, that lesson is forfeit.
If I must cancel a scheduled lesson and it cannot be rescheduled within the same week, that lesson will be added to the end of the paid block of lessons.
