Student Rentals
Think you want to play the harp, but not ready to purchase one yet?
There’s a solution!
Rent a Harp!
Rental harps are available to people living in the Southern California area. If you are considering playing the harp, this is a great way to try one out before purchasing. I also rent to those visiting So Cal looking for a harp to rent during their stay.
Each rental comes with a soft case and tuning key. You will need an electronic tuner, or a tuning app, such as “ClearTune.” Unlike pianos, you will need to tune the harp pretty much every time you play.
Rental Harp Prices:
- $60/month - 30 String Triplett Lever Harp
- $50/month - 26 String Dusty Strings Lever Harp (currently unavailable)
Which harp is best for you? Adults and teenagers should rent the 30 string harp. The smaller, 26 string harp is best for children usually age 7 or 8 and younger, who cannot get their arms around the larger 30 string harp.
What You Need To Rent
- A major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover). We will charge your monthly payment through our secure PayPal business account on the 2nd of each month.
- Driver’s license number
- Physical address (no P.O. Box numbers)
- Two telephone numbers (home, cell or work)
- Name or number of a relative or friend not living with you
- Email address, so we can email you your monthly statements
- $100 deposit. We accept cash only as it makes it easier to refund your deposit when you return your harp
- Your first month’s rent (cash, check or credit card). If you rent toward the middle or end of the month we will pro-rate your first month
When You Pick Up Your Rental Harp
I will teach you everything you need to know to take care of it, including how to tune it.
I highly recommend finding a harp teacher. Even if you only take one or two lessons, you’ll find the initial instruction will go a long way to making your harp playing experience much more enjoyable. Of course this may sound like a good plug to sign up for lessons with me, but it’s really true. Whether you take lessons from myself, or another qualified harp teacher - do it!
Pick Up and Return Service
If for any reason don't want to pick up or return the harp yourself, and you wish your rental harp to be delivered, or picked up from you, there is a service charge. The service charge will depend on your location (i.e., how far I have to travel).
Short Term Rental
Will you be in the Los Angeles area for a short period and want to rent a harp while you're here? The rental harps are available for short term rental. Because it takes the same amount of time to prep, sign out, and sign back in the harp, whether you're renting for a day or for a month, the rental price for short term rentals is the same as the monthly rental fee.
Questions?
If you have questions while renting, you can always give me send me an email. I want to make your harp playing experience as enjoyable as possible!

Broken String?
If your rental harp breaks a string, let us know. We do have some spares on hand, but we don't keep all strings in stock on a regular basis.
Unlike other stringed instruments, you can't go to a music store and pick up a "G" string for your harp. First, because music stores, unless they specialize in harps, don't carry harp strings. Second, even if a store does specialize in harps, they may or may not have the specific string for your harp. IT'S IMPORTANT TO PUT ON THE CORRECT STRING. AN INCORRECT STRING COULD DAMAGE THE HARP, AND YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS.

On all harp charts, string #1 is the shortest (or highest pitch) string on the harp.
